Cyberbullying
After reading this article in class please respond to one of the following questions. Do you believe cyberbullying is becoming a serious problem? What are actions that we can do to prevent cyberbullying from happening? Is cyberbullying and physical bullying equally harmful? Any other thoughts on cyberbullying.

I feel that cyberbullying is horrible. I think that it is sooo bad becasue the person on the other end of that text or internet is unsure weather you are serious or not. I know that I always get confused when something like this happens.

ReplyDeleteI think cyberbullying is actually worse than physical bullying. Even though physical bullying leaves you with bruises or cuts, those things can heal. What you say to people on the internet or through texting is forever there and sometimes people don't find it as funny as you might.
ReplyDeleteCyber bullying is worse than physical because when someone physically punches you , you know who did it but with phones you can do *67 and your number goes restricted or people hack other Peoples facebooks and myspaces so you might know who is doing this but you might not and plus once somthing is on the Internet it never goes away no matter what you do . A bruise can go away but once you press send it doesn't. A girl in Massachusetts commited suicide last year because people cyber bullied her and physically and emotionally bullied her too , the sad part was she just moved there from out of the country
ReplyDeleteI think Cyber bullying is the worst type of bullying because when some one puts something online it never goes away. You can always find it again. I always knew cyber bullying was bad and all but I never knew it caused people to kill themselves. Every type of bullying is bad already but to me cyber bullying just goes over the top for me. I thought when that guy taped his roommate it was just plain cruel.
ReplyDeleteWhat you say online or through text can never go away. Bruises and cuts can always heal in a little while. It's horrible that KIDS are commiting suicide because of this. It's also really sad that these kids think that there's no one you can talk to, no way out. My mom always tells me that if you have a problem, there's always SOMEONE you can talk to. Whether it's friends, teachers, councelors, there's always someone. So don't think that you have to make that horrible decision just to get away from Cyberbullying or any bullying at all. If you ever need someone to talk to about a problem, everyone at school (including me), is there for you.

ReplyDeleteCyberbullying is a terrible thing and it can be very dangerous and I think it is equally as hurtful as physical bullying because people can still hurt. I think we could stop it by people checking wat is being said on the Internet.
ReplyDeleteI agree with nina,bailey,and rachel. Cyberbullying is WAY worse then physical bullying(well that's my opinion. I'm not saying it's way worse and that's right. I'm just saying i think it is) Also with physical bullying you can avoid the person easily. If someone's on facebook they can always bully you. I can't see how people can bully other people. I would never be able to cuz if i saw a kid's face after i bullied them it would make me want to cry. Also, would you want to go to jail for bullying? Did you say they did that Ms.Waple? I forgot.... And anyone who thinks bullying is fun let me just say, think about if you were the recipiant of the bullying? How would you feel like?
ReplyDeleteI think cyberbullying is worse than physical bullying because if you are hurt physically people can see what's wrong and help you right away, but cyberbullying it affects the person mentally and people don't know what they may be thinking or mentally feeling. I do believe that it is becoming a very bad problem because it makes people feel terrible and although they say they are ok they are not. To prevent cyberbullying you can ignore calls and texts and ignore the person or you can tell an adult. Oh and by the way, hello from Kansas. :) I miss you all.
ReplyDeleteCyber bullying is a very bad thing. It can hurt someone’s feelings, or even kill them. I think that if Michigan doesn’t have a law already on it then we should make it against the law. I think that physical bullying takes place more at school than at home and it can cause bad problems. I also think that Cyberbullying takes place more at home then at school and I think that it is just as bad as physical bullying.
ReplyDeleteCyber bullying is becoming is becoming a problem, bullying altogher is a problem that manny kids are victems of. And no cyber bullying is easier because all thats seperateting you from the victem is the computer, or cell phone, and your not looking right at the person. Where as physical bullying their right in your face or spreading rumors about you. But I guess that a rumer could start online to. No matter what kind of Bullying it is, it`s still really bad and happens to most kids every day.
ReplyDeleteThis morning on the news, they were talking about Phoebe Price, the girl that committed suicide in the article. They were saying that the people that tormented Phoebe were only charged with 100 hours of community service, even though they were the causes of her killing herself. It was really sad to hear what her parents had to say because they talked about how much they love and miss her, and they will never be able to forgive the bullies for their actions. It was really hard to watch their pain.

ReplyDeleteI do believe that cyberbullying is becoming a serious problem. It's already gotten to the point where people are committing suicide, so police need to get involved. To prevent cyberbullying, comments should always be monitored. I think cyberbullying is even more harmful than physical bullying, because cyberbullies make you feel unsafe everywhere you go, and make you feel unsure of yourself. Physical bullies hurt you only on the outside, and words always hurt longer than bruises.
ReplyDeleteThere are many ways in which you can prevent cyberbullying. One way would be to not give at your number to people besides who you know. Also to chose carefully about who to add on facebook,myspace,twitter ect.

ReplyDeletei think cyberbullying is horrible. i think anyone who is a cyberbully should be punished. the best thing to do in my opinion is to either tell your parents about it, or tell your principal or somebody like that, and they can help you out with your problem. i think it is worse than physical bullying, because your cuts and stuff can heal, but when you cyberbully, sometimes things lead to suicide, unfortunately. i dont have a facebook or anything like, like twitter or myspace, and i dont think im going 2 get 1 because i dont want people to cyberbully me on facebook.
ReplyDeleteI think that cyberbullying is worse than physical bullying because with physical bullying, the pain will go away. With cyberbullying, your parents or other adults have almost no way of knowing until it's too late and the person commits suicide. You'll most likely forget your minor injuries, but the words will always stay with you. They can never be deleted forever, so if you know anybody that is cyberbullying somebody else, get them to stop! Tell an adult or do something. And also, I totally agree with not getting a facebook or twitter because of cyberbulling.

ReplyDeleteI THINK CYBER BULLING IS WORSE THAN PHYSICAL BULLYING, because you can be cyberbullied anywhere,vs just at school. Also, cyberbullying is worse because with phyical bullying, the pain and injurys will go away, but it never will online. It will always be there, and you will always remember it.

Cyberbullying is something that should be taken very seriously. After reading that article I got so upset that people could be so cruel to their peers. I agree 100% with everyone who posted before me. I think we should all think twice before we post anything on a social network.
ReplyDeleteOk well i think that cyberbullying is worse then physical or emotionally, but.i think they are both bad ive recently been cyber bullied and its not fun because technolgoy is so up there that they posted a facebook status to try and get everyone againest me i think any kind of bullying is very stupid , and a waste of time i think the saying "if you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all" applys well with cyberbullyingg...

ReplyDeleteI'm goining to put it out there CYBERBULLYING IS BAD! I feel realy bad for who ever is bieng cyber bullied right now. The sadest part of the paper was when they commit scuicide. ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, cyberbullying is WAY worse than physical bullying. When you post something on Facebook, it is there forever, and anyone can see it. Where if you physically bully someone, that's not always the case.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a trial was held for the students that bullied Phoebe Prince (a victim of cyberbullying that committed suicide last year). The kids who sent them the texts were only given a punishment of 100 hours of community service. They made a person kill themselves! I understand that was Phoebe's choice and all that, but I think a better way to confront a case like that was to have the jury or the general public take a vote to see if the guilty suspect played a role in that suicide. If the majority of the voters think that the person is responsible, that person should be held with a charge more than just 100 hours of community service.
I think that cyberbullying is extremely wrong. Now bullies can hurt you mentally anywhere causing suicide involving teens. We will not now if we will safe from these terrible people.

Well that is not always the case with cyberbulling because when its out there its out there and anyone can read it. Once a rumor is out there everyone beleives it.

I think that cyberbullying is worse than physical because the things that people say to you will never go away and you can't really control whats going on because it's happing out of school and no one seems to tell there parents. Physical bullying eventually goes away. If physical bulling takes place somewhere where there is people, then it be handled.

ReplyDeleteCyberbulling is terrible i was physically bullied in the 5th grade and it felt terrible i was just happy to get home and try not to cry but it was so bad i would have to go to the principal and then i would cry a little bit because all my friends just laughed along as if it was a joke. so cyberbulling should be banned. sorry i kept removing this i had some stuff messed up.

ReplyDeleteCyber bulling is incredibly worse than physical bullying.In physical bullying when someone punches you the bruise will go away but in cyber bullying the words and messages never leave your thoughts. Stopping this will be really hard because almost every person has a phone or computer. Kids these days need to know that their actions effect more people then just themselves. I think they need to be educated about the effects of cyber bullying.

ReplyDeleteI don't think cyberbullying is cool. Cyberbulling can lead to physical Bullying and can say mean things. People post "stuff" on the internet (facebook) that are hurtful. They can put people down and even lead to murders. You should NOT give out any useful information that can lead to more than cyberbullying. People give out WAY TO MUCH information on the internet but sometimes you do stuff you don't even mean to do to give out info about where you live or your phone number. People can do mean things without even realizing what they did!!!

i agree cyberbullying is becoming a serious problem after reading that article and listening to the story's these people are telling saying that some of these kids are killing themselves do to this problem some one needs to put a end to this. To put a end to this we could only allow a people a certain age to go on these websites or have a cell phone, or we could have the kids parents check or make sure that their kids do not use these websites or have a cell phone

It used to be that when kids were bullied at school they could come home and it was over.But now when kids come home from school they get onto a social network (facebook,twitter,etc.) the harassment continues. So i think the child being bullied should tell an adult an shut down the account.

ReplyDeleteYeah its a problem. Cyberbullying doesnt go away, and its worse than physical bullying because of it. Cyberbullying hurts you mentally. It makes you make bad decisions such as suicide. Physical bullying is just as terrible to think about but, i dont think its as bad as cyberbullying. If somebody's physically bullying you, i doubt youre going to stand there and take it. You could always learn self defense, whereas with cyberbullying you cant do anything to prevent it.

ReplyDeleteHey its trinity i forgot my email thing, but i think cyber bullying is worse then physical bullying because cyber bullying is 24/7. And now days kids cant go home and be/feel safe. Because people can make facebook status' and ext or call you mean commets or remarks. Wether you call them off your cell phone number or *67 it still hurts. And since people are commiting suicide because of how bad this has become, that's even worse. Also when people know how much pain it's causing others they still continue with bullying.

Yes, there is alot of comercials about bullying and cyberbullying. Its been becoming a issue because schools are now starting to over populate, which gives bully's a more victems to pick on.
